Woodland Christian High School (WCHS)is a private four-year coeducational high school that was established in 1999. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is a member of Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). The staff includes 1 principal, 13 teachers, 1 counselor, 1 administrative secretary, 1 assistant secretary and an IT support specialist.

Community Profile

We are a private school in the agricultural community of Woodland. There are two public high schools in Woodland. The majority of Woodland Christian High School’s student population is from Woodland, but the school also has students enrolled from the neighboring communities of Antelope, Arbuckle, Brooks, Carmichael, Capay, Davis, Dixon, Dunnigan, Elverta, Esparto, Guinda, Knights Landing, Sacramento, Yolo, and Zamora.

Curriculum

We have a full University of California approved curriculum. We have three types of diplomas, the Regular Diploma, the College Prep Diploma and the Scholar Diploma. The school uses a modified block schedule where all classes meet four days a week. Three periods plus chapel meet on Wednesdays and four classes meet on Thursdays. Students attend all classes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. From the fall of 2009 through spring of 2014 seven classes were offered per semester using the block schedule.

ENGLISH - Honors English 10, Honors English 11 and AP English 12
SOCIAL SCIENCE – Honors World History, Honors U.S. History, AP Government and Economics
MATHEMATICS-AP Calculus
Students must have a 3.0 grade point average the previous semester and a 3.0 or above in that subject area to enroll in honors or AP classes.

Athletics

All Woodland Christian High School students have full access to our athletic programs: Volleyball, Football, Cross Country, Basketball, Wrestling, Softball, Baseball, Soccer, and Golf.

FFA Chapter

Beginning with our class of 2015, we are proud to be one of two private high schools in the state of California with our own FFA Chapter membership. The heart of the National FFA Organization is at the local chapter level. Leadership is provided by student officers who are elected each year by the chapter’s members, and by the agriculture teacher who serves as the advisor for the chapter.

College Attendance

Approximately 90% of our students go on to college after graduation. Of the class of 2016, 70% attend a four year college, 30% attend a two year college and 1% joined the military.

 

Student Ethnicity

The student body is culturally diverse, with 58% Caucasian, 21% Hispanic, 14% Asian, 3% African American, 3% Native American, and 1% Indian. We currently have twelve international students.

Current Enrollment(2016-17)

Total enrollment is 193 students with 52 seniors, 41 juniors, 49 sophomores and 51 freshmen.


Graduation Requirements

Woodland Christian High School’s graduation requirements include

- Eight semesters of English
- one semester of foreign language
- six semesters of math
- four semesters of laboratory science
- six semesters of social science
- eight semesters of Bible
- two semesters of fine arts
- one semester of computer science
- one semester of health
- four semesters of P.E.
- and at least two semesters of other electives to reach 250 units.

Beginning with the class of 2011, a Senior Project is a required for graduation.
The school also has a community service requirement of 30 hours per year.
